Why To Travel Alone
Yara exchanged the comforts of home 16 years ago for a life on the road. She has been traveling the world mixing a â⬠¦ Shutterstock 1. You will meet amazing people. While traveling with friends or a significant other can be a lot of fun, traveling solo for a certain amount of time can prove to be one of the most rewarding things youââ¬â¢ll ever do because of the great people youââ¬â¢ll meet. When we travel with friends or a partner, we tend to stick to that little group of familiar faces and even though youââ¬â¢ll meet new people, the dynamics and interactions wonââ¬â¢t be as deep and fulfilling. While youââ¬â¢re on your own on the road, youââ¬â¢re much more eager to meet travel buddies, team up with other travelers and generally reach out more in order to socialize. 2. The overwhelming sense of absolute freedom. When you travel on your own and you start meeting people and making awesome friends, youââ¬â¢ll probably team up with travel buddies and end up expan ding your travel plans. Youââ¬â¢ll probably change your plans once you hear about that amazing waterfall, that incredible desert beach, the opportunity to bungee jump from a high bridge, orà taste a special delicacy youââ¬â¢ll only find off the beaten track. When youââ¬â¢re traveling, youââ¬â¢re open to change and youââ¬â¢ll welcome it with open arms. The great thing is that you donââ¬â¢t have to fit into a groupââ¬â¢s agenda, give explanations or disappoint anyone, you can follow your rhythm, desires and move like the wind. 3. Traveling alone challenges your fears and insecurities This is a big one, especially if itââ¬â¢s your first solo experience. I remember the first time I traveled when I was 18 and moved to London on my own for 3 months to be an au pair and live with a local family.I was terrified of the unknown, but if I would have surrendered to that fear, I would have never get to know the strong, courageous and adventurous side of me. I was scared, but I did it anyways and by the 3rd day, I was really proud of myself. From then on I never let fear stop me. 16 years and many adventures later, I still have a little voice inside my head, asking: ââ¬Å"What if something goes wrong? â⬠ââ¬Å"What if you get into trouble?â⬠This is normal and perfectly human; fear exists for our own protection and boosts our awareness. But we shouldnââ¬â¢t let it control our lives.Safety can be a great comfort, but common sense is the key. Read and research a lot before you travel, check out hostel reviews, and research feedback from other travelers in forums and blogs. Respect the local culture and I guarantee youââ¬â¢ll be fine. 4. Fall in love. Everyone wants to find their better half and much is said about failed relationships while on the road. It doesnââ¬â¢t have to be like that! We find love when we meet someone who shares our interests, dreams, and goals. While traveling solo youââ¬â¢ll meet so many people from all w alks of life that falling inà love might just happen.Whether it will be a great summer love or end up at the altar, no one knows, but there are many people out there with amazing stories. If you already have a partner, this time away can boost your passion and once youââ¬â¢re back, youââ¬â¢ll appreciate each otherââ¬â¢s company more. 5. You can take the time to nurture yourself. If you have a stressful life back home, either studying hard or working too much, traveling on your own can be the time to take some time off and nurture yourself.Whether youââ¬â¢re a backpacker traveling cheap or ifà the sky is the limit as far as your budget goes, you can use this time to pamper yourself. Indulge in rich and delicious local meals which will boost your energy and health, take long walks on the beach by sunrise, or get a massage. Do some yoga and relax a lot. Enjoy all the wonderful things you deserve, and understand that happiness is a birth right, not a privilege. 6. Youâ⠬â¢ll have a chance to recreate yourself and be who you want to be. While traveling solo, you can leave your grumpy, tired old self behind and start to be a new you.Explore parts of your personality you are not veryà comfortable or familiar with. When on the road, you might be challenged by unexpected factors and be positively surprised how well you respond to them. Empower yourself by unleashing the wonderful, irresistible and intelligent person you are, but whom youââ¬â¢ve neglected in your everyday routine. 7. You can finally take time to leave everything else behind. Just disconnect from the world for a while. Turn off your mobile, ââ¬Å"forgetâ⬠to check you emails for a few daysâ⬠¦ donââ¬â¢t think about the bills, the responsibilities, the duties and problems. Leave them behind. Some of the most intense creative times or the ones where we find the solutions for all our problems are actually the moments when we disconnect and stop worrying. Have you ever trie d to remember a name or a date and you just canââ¬â¢t spit it out, but after you quit trying it pops out? Itââ¬â¢s the same for the rest of life. Sometimes our brains need to get rid of old thoughts in order to be able to create space for new ones, better ones. So just disconnect yourself from everything and you might be amazed by how fresh youââ¬â¢ll feel once you get back home.

Pros and Cons of Freedom of Religion
Pro's of ImmigrationWork force- many immigrants work at low-paying jobs that natural born citizens often don't want to perform. These jobs, although not glamorous, are essential to the economy.Diversity- an advantage of immigration to the United States is the increase in diversity and culture throughout the country. Although many people argue that this is not a good thing, many others feel that diversity and culture can serve to educate Americans.International Image- Immigration makes America a more open, understanding and welcoming country. Immigration in the U. S. hus can be a strong advantage in international relations and politics.Economy- Immigrants that provide cheap labor also have an impact on the nation's overall economy. That is, when businesses can't fill low-paying jobs, they have one of two choices. We must remember we all come from immigrants What makes the United States so great is the diversity which is only possible through immigration The United states is a land of o pportunity and we should be able to share these opportunities with others If no one was able to come into the United States there would basically be no America What message are we sending if we had no immigration?Opportunity and freedom is what makes the United states so strong. None of us would be here if it wasn't for immigration unless you are 100% Native American Immigrants even provide new ideas for inventions, and sometimes cheap labor for big companies. This cheap labor can lower prices of U. S. goods, and those new ideas are the basis of why this country is amazingly powerful Can you not say that this country is a great country? Can you not think of them coming here to America as a complement to us.There are so many countries that have different racial populations today and they all work because they feel no threat. Americans complain and complain that immigrants take our jobs that most Americans will not even commit to. Do you see any of the wealthy in those fields? NO! Mos t of them make less than minimum wage and still complain Con's of freedom of Religion Cons of the policy of freedom of religion can be described firstly as the practices themselves.Practices may involve sacrifices or rituals that are not taken kindly by other religious groups. That brings it to another disadvantage: Hate and discrimination can fuel attacks, murder and in extreme cases, terrorism. Wrongfully use to divide rather than unite humanity. Some people need a book to direct their moral values. Slow man progress, for example, stem cell research. It brainwash the worshippers. Uses fear tactics, for example, going to hell. May lead to greed, power and hypocrisy. Religious leaders use religion to enrich themselves.Religion may be use to preys on peopleââ¬â¢s ignorance. Religion helps make many fast conclusions without deep examination. Devoid people of accountability for their own actions because their religion tell them it was ok to do. Every person of his or her religion bel ieves one religion is better than another. Religions are manufacture, making people to live in illusion, escaping reality and living in a delusional world. The religion decides what is right and wrong based on the religion and not by the individual.Religion plays some part in wars and people use it to justify their fighting, hate, and intolerance. Religious leaders may engage in preaching hate and intolerance against other religious belief systems. Ask followers to donate money so they can go to heaven, this mean less money for the followers and their family. Wars over religion, single view on the way things should work, dominate religion governing how people should think. Limits freethinking and freedom of speech, for example, drawing of the prophet Mohammed is considered forbidden by Muslims.Human right violations, for example, Sharia law for the Muslims, gays may put to death, freedom of speech is not allow, women and girls are not allow to go to school and so on. It creates mass delusion in which the religious people believe that they are right on moral grounds solely based on their religion or to what religious entity they are a part of. Religious leaders may act like businessmen competing in the market, advertising that their religion is genuine and certified product on the market for going to heaven and eternal life. |

Apply the Learning Curve Theory Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Apply the Learning Curve Theory - Assignment Example Conversely, the third concept states that the interval of progress is predictable over a given time (Ninio, 2002). There has been an increase in the practice of performance in a manner in which the number of units of production increases in a compact span of time, ideally, after the particular time of implementation. This can categorically be defined as the interval of learning where persistent proportion of diminution in time is considered. In the same context, the slope of the learning curve is measured by the difference between the interval of learning and arithmetical rate of one hundred (James, 2005). For instance, if the timing between the increasing of units are decreased by 20 percent, then it will be represented as 80 percent learning curve. It is also worth to note that learning curves are used by individuals in preparing corporate strategy including setting prices, capital investment, and operative costs amid other things. I spent the first two weeks examining the operatio ns at Becks. For the last week, the tables had high utilization of 95 percent. The waiting time, I jotted down, ranged between 10 to 11 minutes. I noticed that some customers left without eating. The upper tolerance level was seven minutes for the customers to be awaited. The customers arrived in pair or two at the restaurant. Utilizing the peak performance would be very profitable to the restaurant. During the peak hours from 5 p.m. to 9p.m., I noticed, could have a turnover of two tables every 45 minutes. The restaurant had the capacity of 5 tables that could sit 16 people each. Come to think of it, the goal objective of the restaurant is to maximize profits, and stay under the upper tolerance of seven minutes. During peaks times, I noted that the entire process the customer walked into the restaurant to the time they left took them 45 minutes. The ten minutes were consumed just to be seated at an empty table. Another 15 minutes were consumed back in the kitchen doling out the ord er. This efficiency is below average going by the long waits and the number of customers who goo with being served. The reason that could be attributed to this may be because there was no computerized order process system. If this was in place, it could have speeded up the order process by four minutes. The restaurant also lacked automatic ovens which could have speeded up the process of preparing a pizza. The only solution to reducing the process time is to replace the manual ovens, and replace them with an automated order process. The crucial thing to do is to change the seating at the restaurant. At the start, the tables for four showed the highest utilization of 95 percent and 35 groups left the restaurant without being served. To solve this problem, the restaurant I concluded needed to change the distribution of tables, and hence establish a precedence rule. This would be a good decision. If the restaurant could make this decision, the utilization for four could significantly c hange to 93.67 percent, and tables for two could also change to 90 percent. Ten groups of four and three groups of two walked out without being served. The average waiting time could change to 4.68 minutes and the average waiting queue length would change to 3.50. The restaurant could earn an estimated profit of $1260, loss sales worth $358. Nevertheless, this would not be an optimal solution as the kitchen staff and waiting staff are underutilized. There are lost sales worth $358. Therefore making

Ethical behavior and unethical behavior articles Assignment
Ethical behavior and unethical behavior articles - Assignment Example The Queen insists that she wasnââ¬â¢t placing publicly funded payment within the charity. She said that fund ââ¬Å"would only include her private money.â⬠She further claimed that the lone costs that were covered by the payment were housekeeping costs, together with salaries. Belgium wants to cut the annual stipend of Queen Fabiola after political leaders learned she had put up a private charity to provide for her nephews and nieces and for her preferred Catholic foundations after her demise. Premier Elio Di Rupo had told MPs he sought to cut the sum to â⠬923,000 (à £776,000) back from â⠬1.4 million (à £1.18m). As the only widow of the late King Baudouin ââ¬â a dedicated Catholic who in 1990 did step aside provisionally to steer clear of signing the nations abortion bill ââ¬â insists the cash came from assets inherited from her Hispanic family. The 84-year-old at the moment maintains that she has had to dissolve the charitable vehicle set up in September that let her to forward monies. The surfacing of the plan not many weeks ago aggravated rare fury in both political and media circles in Belgium and has hit the realm to its foundations. The Property Principle and The Citizenship Principle were not respected by the monarch in her dealings with the state. The Dignity Principle had been violated and Labour apologises for it. The Labour Party has had to apologise after one of its own most superior politicians was heard describing Belgium and Denmark as the "second-tier" nations. Delineating the partys defence strategy re-evaluation, ex-Security Minister Lord West claimed the UK reserved a "certain clout". And he further argued that too much relegation of military capability could make it further like "bloody Denmark or Belgium"...that is Irrespective of any period of war decorations awarded to their populace (the Nepalese did get a fair few, also), fatalities or their inexplicably considerable donations to UN and NATO

How Will Astronomy Archives Survive the Data Tsunami Case Study
How Will Astronomy Archives Survive the Data Tsunami - Case Study Example Archives operate within an environment where resources, mostly financial are limited (Chaisson & McMillan, 2011). When the response time for astronomy queries increases, so is the cost of obtaining data from the archives. This impresses on the need to search for further technological techniques, which are more efficient and cost effective. Various performance degradation issues associated with the growing trend are indicated by the archived astronomical data. First, there is growth in the usage of the archived data, increasing the access and queries associated with the archived data sets. This effectively reduces the efficiency of data access, while also increasing the response time involved in queries (Berriman & Groom, 2011). The decreased efficiency and increased response time has the effect of making the study into this field less efficient, thus discouraging the widening of the knowledge base in astronomy. Most significant is the fact that, the growth in archived astronomical da ta increases the demand for such data, encourages the creation of more sophisticated queries and analysis techniques, which in turn increases the storage, computation and database costs (Berriman & Groom, 2011). This serves to make the access to archived astronomical data more expensive for users. Additionally, the increased volume of archived astronomical data means that it is now more accessible, thus influencing the research undertaken in this field, since most researchers are now using the archived data to undertake their research, at the expense of newly acquired data (Chaisson & McMillan, 2011). This practice is detrimental to the growth of astronomy, since new research and enquiries are rarely made, thus making new discoveries and innovations in this field impractical. The effect of this is to limit the knowledge base of the astronomy field, while also enhancing the regurgitation of data and provision of redundant and irrelevant study findings (NRC, 2011). The essence of rese arch is to promote new enquiries and discoveries in certain field, with a view to creating new knowledge, while also enhancing creativity and innovation in solving the problems associated with the field (Berriman & Groom, 2011). With a continued publication of more papers using the archived data sets, the hope of new discoveries and innovations in this field is extinguished. The increased volume of archived astronomy data has also caused performance degradation of various astronomical data institutions such as NASAââ¬â¢s Infrared Processing and Analysis Center (IPAC) and Infrared Science Archive (IRSA), through affecting their reporting abilities (Berriman & Groom, 2011). Following these performance degradation issues, a need for alternative archival techniques has risen. One such alternative archival technique is graphical processing units (GPUs), which is a technique developed to enhance the output of an image that occurs on a display device (Berriman & Groom, 2011). Neverthele ss, while this technique is meant to help in reducing the inefficiencies associated with large volumes of archived astronomical data, the technique has proved to be ineffective due to various reasons. First, the technique is only applicable in graphic-like

Discussion board 2 - Research Design Class Essay
Discussion board 2 - Research Design Class - Essay Example Such studies are also significant since they present near real life situations as opposed to case studies and experimental studies which may are always done under controlled conditions. An example of business-related research that might be better handled by longitudinal approaches are the buying patterns for grocery products among families in a specific town. This is because, such data will indicate changes in the in the buying patterns and behavior of those families and households over time. Another example of a longitudinal study is a research conducted to determine the suitability of a product in for a market over its lifetime in a market (product market research). This method of study in both cases is suitable since in the first case, measurement of data over time to determine trend is applicable. In the second example, the method is applicable it involves the establishment of temporal order. Posting 1 is correct in stating that longitudinal studies normally gather information on a population at a single point in time. The posting is however wrong to state that quantitative research can be performed more quickly than experimental and longitudinal design. This is because the later two designs are subsets of quantitative research. The US census is a longitudinal study in which case the posting is correct as it involves repetition in collection of the same (or similar) data over time. The example of changing product packaging as an experiment is correctly stated as two groups may be applied (views regarding the first packaging and the second packaging). An experimental study however would not provide answers as to why consumers would like one type of packaging and not the other as stated by the posting. In stating that ââ¬Å"both methods are typically more expensive and time-consuming for a company than performing cross-sectional researchâ⬠, posting 1 is wrong. This i s so since

Leadership & Ethics for Managers Unit 5 DB Final Week Essay
Leadership & Ethics for Managers Unit 5 DB Final Week - Essay Example iness environment in which the culture is dynamic and is rapidly changing because of a host of internal and external factors, followers may feel more comfortable under the relational leadership style of the leader than spiritual leadership style. Both relational and transactional leadership styles are directed at the empowerment of the employees to optimize their tendency to achieve the organizational goals. The fundamental difference between these two leadership styles is the focus of the leader. In the relational leadership style, the leader tends to empower all followers equally with a view to developing collaboration among them whereas in the transformational leadership style, the leader may give different levels of attention to different followers depending upon how much attention a certain follower requires in order to be able to play his/her role as desired by the leader. In this sense, transformational leadership can be difficult to adopt as compared to the relational leadership style because identifying the strengths and weaknesses of individual employees is
