Design-ICT Modelling CW EssayI do completed my analysis of the new system therefore I allow for be interviewing, observing and identifying the subroutiner requirements. In addition, the success criteria have been successfully accomplished. These steps pass on help me with the design of my new system before it is implementedWorksheets about of the system will be establish around break awaysheets. Here is a list of the ones that I will produce.* Main Menu This will be the menu giving access to all the worksheets stored in the system. * Ordering- This worksheet will be the most frequently used one because it is where customers choose the halls, the decorators, caterers, euphony artists, venues, bars. They want to buy as well as lapse their personal details and forthcoming budget. This worksheet will also give the idiosyncratic costs of each item obtainable for purchase and allow calculations to be made by the spreadsheet establish on the products that are chosen.* Venue s This will intro details of all the unlike venues available that are available in different areas in London* Decorators- This will display details of all the different decorating companies available with the different designs available and at the different prices.* Caterers This will display details of all the different caterers lodge available with what food types are available.* Music Artist- This will display details of the different music artist available and the types of music they play and how much they will charge.* Drinks (Bar)- This will display details of all the different the drink the bar sells and how much they will cost.Graphs and chartsThe new system will be used to display the results of the calculations it get throughs in an easy-to-read format. This is why graphs and charts will motive to be made. They will be used to show the piece of troths in every month and the amount spent on refurbishing the venues and the bars. These will be used to give the profits made by the business every month so they know how they are progressing as a business.MacrosThe macros will be used to navigate between different worksheets can be through faster if buttons are formed within every worksheet. These buttons will be the names of every worksheet so the user can click on the name of the worksheet to open it up instantly without having to open up a list of all worksheets as they will already be listed.AlgorithmsMany calculations take to be made by the spreadsheet and this is only possible when formulae are programmed into cells. Formulae are needed because without them, the staff would need to make every calculation themselves which would take a lot of time. Therefore, formulae are the solution to this problem as they work out the calculations.TestingOnce the new spreadsheet system has been made and everyone is pleased with the worksheets, graphs, macros and formulae created, I will need to test my new system in order to check whether it accomplishes all the success criteria given.User certificateWhen the new spreadsheet system has been implemented, successfully tested and I am sure that it works, I will need to create a user guide that will make it easier for the staff at JJ party planners to use the new system. The user guide will include instructions on how to program certain cells with formulae for fashioning calculations and how to select items and change them according to a given budget. It will also come with a proficient guide to help with troubleshooting in case the users face technical difficulties with the system.EvaluationThe last thing I will do will be to evaluate the system by checking how it works according to my specifications.InputsThese are the inputs that need to be put into the system for it to work* Customers name, date of birth, spoken language and contact number* Venue, decorator, caterer and music artist wanted , budget* Date of bookingProcessesThe system should be able to produce the outputs by carryin g out the following processes* Search for the Venue, decorator, caterer and music artist available* Calculate total prices and recalculate when the booking is changed* Increasing the quantity of the Venue, decorator, caterer and music artist available* Collecting information and calculating the profits based on the number of sales and costs.OutputsThe system should be able toproduce a number of outputs from this information* An billhook for every sale which the company keeps. José Rizal Essay Example for Free

Jos Rizal EssayJose left Calamba for Binan to study under the pedagogics of Maestro Justaniano Aquino Cruz. His days in school were full of memories and It is where he develop his skills in painting and the arts of wrestling. He was also the best student in their school. Jose surpassed all the Binan boys. It contributed for the love of independence in Jose. At that tender age, he was able to control himself. Although he was struck by groundworksickness but diverted the ruling of nostalgia in developing talents and focused more in his academic studies. I remember when I was in my elementary years.Sometimes, I was left alone by my parents. I just use my time by coloring books and playing with my friends. This activity helps me in identifying colors and building harmonious relationship with others. December 1871 Jose went to Calamba, his home town, where he was welcomed home by his parents, brothers, and sisters. He also spent his Christmas in Calamba. He was given a chance to celebrate with his family the Christmas on 1871. He even shared his experience in Binan. Christmas and other holidays would be merrier when we spend it with our family especially when we exchanges jokes and stories.January 1872The Cavity Mutiny flared up, followed by the carrying out of Fathers Gomez, Burgos and Zamora on February 17th. Paciano was deeply affected with the execution of his friend. As a sympathy and protest over against the injustice of Spanish authorities, he quit studies and went back to Calamba. This was the distributor point when Joses determination to consecrate his life to combat the evil forces of his times despite of his tender age. As a Filipino, I too, is greatly affected by this event because it shows injustice and racial discrimination because Filipino priest were considered inferior and given limited assignments. They were not allowed to hold parishes. June 1872 The heros mother was impeach and arrested on malicious charge that she aided her brother, Jose Alberto, in trying to poison Albertos wife. She was forced to head on foot from Calamba to Santa Cruz. Jose Rizal experienced the injustice of the Spanish authorities. This event shows how Spaniards pull strings justice for their own benefit. This will also leave a message to the reader not to combining anyone be June 1872 to 1873 Jose entered Ateneo Municipal. He was at first put at the tail of the class, but he was in brief promoted and kept on being promoted so that at the end of one month he had deliver the goods to the rank of Emperor. At the end of the term he obtained marks of excellent in all the subjects and in the examinations. . He had reason to feel proud of his advancement and so when he went home on pass that year, he ran alone to see his mother in the prison and tell her the happy news.Jose shows that he squirt do better even when he is Second year in Ateneo (1873 to 1874) The second year, Jose had the same prof as in the previous year but instead of lodging outside the City, he resided at No. 6 Calle Magallanes. At the end of the term he obtained a medal, and upon returning to his town, he again visited his mother in jail alone. This was three months before her release. Third year in Ateneo (1874-1875) Rizal family was happy because Dona Teodora was released from prison however, Rizal returned dissatisfied to his hometown because he only won one medal. He failed to win a medal in Spanish because his spoken Spanish was not that fluent. A Spaniard who delivered Spanish with fluency and right accentuation disappointed him. He studied harder this year and regained his leadership composure and became an emperor again. Fourth Year in Ateneo (1875-1876) Rizal obtained quin medals, which pleased him immensely because with them I could repay my father somewhat for his sacrifices. Last Year in Ateneo (1876-1877) Rizal was considered as the pride of the Jesuits because he was the most brilliant Atenean of his times.

Bahamian environment Essay Example for Free

Bahamian surround EssayQuestion Littering and carefree disposal of garbage by humans is destroying our Bahamian milieu. In order to define the littering we must start define the word litter. Litter refers to different waste products such as containers, papers, and wrappers that have been disposed onto streets, yards and unconnected areas. This means littering is the pollution of our environment by different litter waste. Littering not only destroys our charming Bahamian environment but it also affects wildlife, human wellness and the economy. Littering and irresponsible disposal of garbage in our environment is a very important issue, which some(prenominal) people overlook. Although people know littering is an illegal act, many stop to carelessly scatter their trash around nonetheless. Litter creates toxins and pollutants that are harmful to our environment. When Bahamians throw glass bottles and cigarettes in bushes and along the roads the sun reflects off of them, resu lting in a fire igniting. The smoke from the fire go away soon fill the subscriber line, slowly polluting and destroying the atmosphere. Litter is harmful to wildlife also. They may ingest the plastic and paper then suffer from serious illness. Small animals crawl into bottles and jars looking for food and may become stuck and slowly hunger to death. Littering not only affects land creatures but marine life as well. Many marine animals confuse plastic bags, balloons, bait packets, waddy wrappers and rubber with prey and eat them. Plastic bags and balloons floating in the irrigate look like jellyfish. Turtles often eat them and choke or starve to death because they have so much plastic in their stomachs. In addition, illegally dumped items containing hazardous waste can harm the environment and have a potentially negative impact on human health.Food, packaging, and other materials left to liquidate provide a fertile breeding ground in which bacteria thrives, resulting in a hea lth hazard for those that come into contact with it. Litter can also create safety problems, with items such as broken glass bottles and metal cans having the potential to cause injury to anyone that steps or falls on it. In the Bahamas, mainly in Freeport we experience many bush fires. When pollutants are left in the air we as humans inhale them, this contaminated are travels to our lungs which slowly kills them. Furthermore, littering can widely affect the economy. referable to animals consuming litter and dumping they sooner or later die.Because these animals are dying they will very shortly become extinct. With no marine life and wildlife, the Bahamas will lose it main attraction which is its beautiful coral reefs and sea creatures. With no tourists coming to see these attractions, the economy of the Bahamas will soon fall dramatically all from littering and pollution. Littering is an extremely important issue in Bahamian society that should not be overlooked. It can affect the Bahamas in ways such as environmental, economic, health and wildlife. Our beautiful country is filled with many undiscovered wonders let us not kill them by failing to do such a small action. Throw garbage in the trash and not the sea keep litter in your hand and not on the land. So remember Keep the Bahamas clean, green and pristine.

Renewable Sources Of Energy Essay Example for Free

renewable Sources Of Energy EssayDuring the 1970s, efficiency conservation was a popular ideathe nothing crisis forced governments to encourage the humanity to use push wisely, to bring about less wasteful and to think well-nigh competency inlet. Government programs emerged, research into alternative cleverness sources was financed and individuals tried to make a difference. This provide opine at the advantages of renewable energies rather than what has been submitted so far. Introduction The utilization of renewable energy is no bimestrial new to existence because a century ago, wood already supplied more(prenominal) than 90 share of mans energy needs. However, because of the convenience and low prices of fossil fuels, the use of wood no hugeer became popular. The consumption from these sources summed up to . 8 quads (quadrillion Btu) in 2007, or about 7 percent of the total energy utilised nationwide. Somehow though, with the immediate crisis over, (even th ough longer term crises, such as global warming, were becoming more apparent) all that changed in the 1980s. Government spending on alternative energy was slowly eroded, conservation programs started to waste out of sight and, at the same time, spending on massive oil heightenment projects continue to grow.As the 1970s crisis showed, energy consumption is promptly related to perceived energy availability and relatively low costs. As long as people believe that they have an endless supply, and as long as they ignore the environment when counting the cost of that energy supply, people are living (albeit comfortably) at a set about place a delusiona delusion that is the direct cause of major environment degradation. Energy Options It is verbalize that more than half of the renewable energy goes to producing electricity. The next one that is apply after this is the production of horniness and steam that originated for industrial purposes. Therefore, there are also some kinds of renewable fuels that are also used in transportation. When renewable energy is used, the consequence is a reduction on the demand for fossil fuels. It is a fact that unlike the fossil fuels, the non-biomass forms of renewable sources such as geothermal, wind, solar and hydropower do not directly emit greenhouse gases. The production and use of renewable fuels has increasingly been more of use in the knightly years because of the higher prices for oil and born(p) gas. There are also several incentives from the State and national Government such as the Energy Policy Acts of 2002 and 2005.Thus, the use of the renewable fuels is likely to grow in the next few years, even as people rely on the non-renewable fuels in order to butt most of the energy needs. Renewable energy At present, only a small proportion of the worlds energy needs come from alternative and renewable energy sources. These exist in many forms including Solar Thermal, Photovoltaics, Wind, Hydro, tidal/Wave and Bioene rgy (including Biomass, Biogas and Biofuels). As with fossil fuels the suns energy is the ultimate source of these energies. The dominant presence of non-renewable forms of energy generation, production, and promotional material are very disappointing. With the increasing depletion of our non-renewable resources, as well as the growing human population, our levels of consumption, and the pollution that accompanies our change magnitude industrialization, the continuing expansion of our fossil-fuel based economy will ultimately lead us to self destruction (Brown). Utilities and independent power producers are researching ways to expand the use of renewable resources. The two most grave benefits of renewable resources are their long-term availability and non-association with global climate change and minimal atmospheric wallop (PSC, n. p. ). Energy from the weather is free from nature. If we are able to harness it in increasing quantities to help apply to the worlds energy needs we git help the environment. One major advantage with the use of renewable energy is sustainable and thus, will never run out. Even more importantly, renewable energy produces little or no waste products such as carbon dioxide or other chemical pollutants. Renewable energy projects can also bring economic benefits to many regional areas, as most projects are rigid away from large urban centers and suburbs of the capital cities. These economic benefits may be from the increased use of local anesthetic services as well as tourism (Solarschools.net, n. p. ). The advantages of renewable resources include Low or no fuel cost (except for some biomass) short lead-times for planning and construction small, modular plant sizes reduced environmental effects compared to fossil fuels non-depletable resource base potentially more job intensive favorable public opinion and distributed generation potential. The implementation of engineering science to utilize these renewable resources efficiently and their consumption will pass three goals critical to human societies achieving sustainability.First, their use will result in the reduction of polluting emissions into the atmosphere, thus up air quality and limiting the greenhouse effect. Furthermore, the increased use of renewable resources will lessen the boilers suit amount of environmental degradation attributed to the use of nonrenewable resources. Lastly, the use of potential energy sources aids in achieving a sustainable lifestyle because of their long-term usability. Their use adopts a philosophy of utilizing the resources sustained within natural systems rather than consuming those that take thousands of lifetimes to regenerate (Armstrong). The primary long-term benefit of renewable technologies is that once a renewable project has been constructed, and fully depredated, it becomes a permanent and low cost component of a grounds energy system. In effect, the construction of a renewable energy project provides future generations a low cost, energy facility that produces power with little or no environmental degradation (Armstrong). Africa at once continues to perform consistently and positively in terms of its economic growth rates. There are reports that the energy supply is now hampering the overall growth prospects of the continent. But what is positive here is the fact that Africa possesses vast renewable and non-renewable energy resources that are unexploited. Evidence of this is the fact that only 7 percent of hydroelectricity and less than 1 percent of the potentials in geothermal energy has been exploited. Thus, the energy challenge can be given etymons because of the available renewable energy resources in Africa. Some questions that need to be addressed along these lines are on the acclivitous renewable energy market in Africa as well as the effectivity of cost on the renewable energy technologies. It is said that this renewable energy will already be able to forgather at least half o f Southern Africas energy needs at a lower cost than the current business as usual, Thus, this will be an combination of coal-based supply options. (Socioligos Africa). check to the U. S. Environmental testimonial Agency (EPA), the United States will bury or burn the following materials in the following years 11. 4 million dozens of newsprint, 16. 2 million tons of corrugated cardboard, 10. 8 million tons of glass packaging, 8. 2 million tons of plastic packaging, and 1. 5 million tons of aluminum packaging. If those 48. 1 million tons were recycled instead, the equivalent of 10. 1 billion gallons of gasoline would be saved. That is bountiful gasoline to power 15. 4 million cars for one year (at 18 mpg and 12,000 miles driven per year). Additionally, the use of recycled materials results in the reduction of water use, water pollution, air pollution, and energy consumption. The federal and state governments can have evidential influence on the attractiveness of renewable resourc es by providing tax advantages for owners of renewable systems (U. S. Environmental Protection Agency). some other company has taken the issue on renewable fuel more seriously. Google has announced that it is poised to develop electricity from the renewable energy sources that will be cheaper than the one that comes from coal. This move known as REC, will focus initially on advanced solar thermal power, wind power technologies, deepen geothermal systems and other potential breakthrough technologies (Googles destruction Renewable Energy Cheaper than Coal, 2007). This will examine the enhanced geothermal systems and other areas. In fact Google is already reaching out to more researches on renewable energy. If Google can do this, then other industries can also follow. For instance, it is worth considering the solar thermal technology which already gives a way by which renewable energy can be cost-competitive (Googles Goal Renewable Energy Cheaper than Coal, 2007). Conclusion Energy ef ficiency, using renewable resources and finding alternative fuels should be the florescence agenda of the government, and not the destruction of wilderness for short-term economic gain. This project would provide the long-term solution for the nations oil dependence and its economic deficit from oil imports. This would also mitigate unnumberable other environmental problems brought about by the countrys excessive oil use. Money to be spent on extracting a few months worth of oil would be much more in force(p) in funding the development of using renewable resources such as hydrogen and biomass. Recommendations The use of renewable resources must be pursued and developed because in doing so, we are helping to create a sustainable environment that will benefit us now and in the future. Using proper management, renewable resources can last indefinitely. It is worthwhile to mention that the state and government incentives evolve from non-renewables to renewable and thus have become econ omically comparable in terms of price to the current conventional energy sources. The life of people Essay Example for Free

The deportment of batch EssayThe life of volume is getting better day by day and the applied science is one of factor bring that outcome. To consider one strong economical country or developed country, people usually attend to at its technological system. Therefore, I strongly agree with the statement that governments should spend as much bills as possible on developing or buying computer technology.Firstly, thanks to technology people can work in an efficient way. Defining the modern life, one usually sees there ar more machines to help people. In addition, some countries are using the higher productivity levels in manufacturing as they can in order to increase quality and quantity of products. For instance, Japanese used to be a poor country after the World War II and they had to suffer strongly damage of the war. However, they micturate realized the importance of technology and have concentrated using technology to produce cars. In put in time, Japan is the biggest car industry all over the world. In addition to technology also brings for military man being a high quality of living. To some extent, we can easily see the helping of technology in our daily life, such as washing machine or refrigerator. People can come about food within one month, and saving many hours cleaning clothes. Without airplane technology, before if one wants to go travel between countries, he or she has to use boats or trains. It takes so much time, but at present we can do that expert with few hours. Finally, computer is one of the most useful study aid for students nowadays. Computers have been using widely in schools, laboratories. Students were too tired with schoolbooks, wasting time in transferring from infrastructure to school. However, now they can save all their books in their personal computer or even just stay at home and study with an internet connection. Thus, when technology invested more money, students will study easier. engineering science strength ens one country indirectly this way.In conclusion, technology is one of a main factor that helps people life more productive. With the reasons I have listed above, governments should give majority amount of money in making technological industry stronger.

Mice and Men Essay Example for Free

Mice and Men examine buttocks Ernst Steinbeck was born on 27 February 1902, in Salinas, California, USA. The Salinas River is menti 1d in the first line of Of Mice and Men. The whole apologue is centred on the landscape around Salinas. Steinbeck was the deuce-ace of four children, of mixed German and Irish descent. His parents owned a considerable amount of land, and his flummox was a schoolteacher who encouraged him to pick up widely. His background was neither large nor poor, and his parents wanted him to follow a respectable career. John Steinbeck wrote the story called Of Mice and Men. It was published in the depression days of the 1930s. Steinbeck raises questions in the mind of the reader that the novel would be based on l unmatchableliness. The first line read A few miles s gain place of the closeth of Soledad. This is a clever idea by Steinbeck as Soledad means loneliness in Spanish.John Steinbecks family was wealthy, but was interested in the lives of bring f orth labourers. It gave him a inspiration to spell out books somewhat migrant runers. He could of been a doctor or a teacher but he chose to generate an author.John Steinbeck must of met a lot of people corresponding Lennie and George, so he has ideas to write a good book. The historical context of the novel is that its all well-nigh the depression years in the 1930s. It was abominable to be unemployed. People living in the 30s didnt have a choice but to go to work. The briny characters in this story are George and Lennie. They travel around together, share their minds together, and what ever trouble Lennie gets into, George had to get him out of it. George didnt uniform Lennie that oft because of all the trouble that he gets into. He didnt want to incumbrance with Lennie, but his m early(a) told George to look by and by him. Lennie was incessantly trying to find a good opportunity to go take out alone in the hills. George didnt want that, he liked Lennie as a friend, but L ennie gets into too much trouble. But they always say You got me, and I got you. This novel called Of Mice and Men was set in a townspeople called Soledad. It meant Lonely in Spanish. The ranch is located in the middle of no where. Its 4 miles to the town. The characters in this novel are ranch workers who are described as lonely.Ranch work is not long term. both of the workers except for glaze and Crooks are only passing through. When George and Lennie get jobs, the boss is suspicious of them because they look like theyve known each other from somewhere and are close friends. The other ranch workers see that George is always answering for Lennie. But they rousenot understand wherefore they are always together. George says that ranch workers are the loneliest people in the world and dont belong nowhere. In this separate, Im going to write most Crooks. Crooks is a black guy. Hes not allowed to stay in the bunkhouse with the other ranch hands because he is black. He doesnt have th e same status as the other white workers. Crooks was also excluded because he suffered an injury and so is not as capable as the other ranch hands. His possessions show that he is lonely. E genuinelyone can see that because he loves to read his books but was excluded. Crooks doesnt like when Lennie tries to talk to him. Crooks get angry every time he tells Lennie to go away from him. But after that, he admits that he is lonely. Lennie will also get lonely and even sick when no one is with him. He needs someone beside him all the time so that he feels supported. For this, he always wants George. In this paragraph, I have looked at the way Crooks treat other people and what his appearance looks like to everyone else.I will now write about(predicate) glass over. Hes an old man who wants to join up with George and Lennie and get a place where they can live. confect provides a parallel to George and Lennie in that he relies on his tag Im so used to im (p.46) just as George and Lennie are an elevated version of a master/dog relationship. Candy clings to his dog, despite all that logic and common sense dictate. He loves to be with his dog because he had him since he was a puppy. It was the best sheepdog he had ever had. The other workers didnt realise the relationship between Candy and the dog. It meant nothing to everyone except for Candy. Theyve been together for all of Candys life. But now Lennies life has ended.Candy cleans out the farm buildings, and shows George and Lennie the bunkhouse. Candy lost his hand whilst working on the farm, and was allowed to stay on in this lowly billet as cleaner. Candy soon asks George and Lennie if he can come in with them. George said We werent thinking of a third person. Cause we was gonna do it on our own.George knew that it was owned by old people who might be willing to sell it for $600 or so. Candy confesses he has $350 saved up and asks if he can come in with them. George really begins to believe that his dream might b ecome a reality. He needs to work for another month or two and not spend anything so that they will have the send to buy the farm. This will be good for Candy because then he can live a happy life and avoid the loneliness in the life of a ranch worker.Hes worked here for so long and wants to change his miserable life and make it peaceful. Candy was moaning that he just let a stranger submit his dog. By the look of him, he could see that Carlson didnt like the smell of Candys old dog. Carlson asks turn to give Candy one of the other pups so that the old dog can be shot. one time the dog has been shot, he feels strong pressure because he had him since he was a pup. When George and Lennie were talking about their dream, Candy steps in and instead of being sad, George and Lennie gives pride and gives Candy more confidence. In this paragraph I have explained Candys life and the way he lives.I am now going to write about Curleys married woman. She doesnt like Curley very much and wants t o go elsewhere but cannot because of Curley. The other ranch workers avoid Curleys wife as they know that if they befriend her, they will get into trouble. She also said that she could hang Curley at anytime if she matte up like it (Showing that she can be dangerous as well as Lennie). She also visits the bunkhouse a lot, she wanted company, but had to ask where Curley was. On Saturday nights she is left at the ranch alone. When she is left alone at the ranch, she tells everyone about her life and story. Its very miserable for Curleys wife. She tells everyone the truth that she doesnt really like Curley.Everyone else has names except for her. She has to be called Curleys wife. That is why she doesnt appear much in the story. Shes being treated like an object. Slims dog name is Loulou. We have looked at the character of Curleys wife and how she got on.George and Lennie are different to the other ranch hands. The way they respond to each other shows very close friendship. Lennie alway s get into trouble and George is in that location to get him out of it. They share a dream together of working and then getting a lot of money so that they can live comfortably in the place that there going to get. Every time George says Were gonna get the place. Lennie gets very excited and says I get to tend the rabbits. But when George is about to shoot Lennie, he keeps saying this so that Lennie puts his mind fully onto the house in his head and imagining him tend the rabbits, George wanted this because when he looked the other way, there was a time to shoot him.George wanted him to see it as he is talking. It was related to the shooting of Candys dog too which gave George more confidence in shooting Lennie. But at the end, it is George who will feel guilty. George oft insults Lennie and gives him hell, but he doesnt really mean it. Although he often talks about how well turned he could be without Lennie he secretly doesnt want Lennie to leave, and when Lennie offers to do so in the first chapter, George nearly pleads with him to stay. This is because George also depends on Lennie to a certain extent for his unconditional friendship. I didnt think that Steinbeck would make George shoot Lennie. At first, those two was good friends, I thought they would actually get that bunkhouse. But it ended in a bad way. It made the readers / watchers feel shocked and feel that his life has ended with just one shot. George always gets annoyed of Lennie and Lennie says that he will go up to the hills. George knows that hes the only one who has to get him out of trouble. But then decides if Lennies gone, then he can have total freedom and do anything he wants. At the end, it might of been a mistake to shoot Lennie. The first paragraph tells us about the door of John Steinbeck. It tells the readers what is going to happen. The second paragraph describes the setting and ranch workers. Its the setting of the story and the ranch workers. The third paragraph lets the readers u nderstand Crooks. It also describes his ethnic group and his rights. The fourth paragraph tells us about Candy. It tells the readers about his loving dog and his dreams towards the ranch. The fifth paragraph also describes Curleys Wife. The way she acts in the story, and how lonely she is. Finally, the last paragraph tells the readers about the friendship of George and Lennie. It tells us how George and Lennie travel together, live together and the trouble that they get into. It also summarises George and Lennies dream.John Steinbeck is trying to say that life in the 1930s in California was lonely. He doesnt just write it down, because that will just give the point away. He wants the readers to imagine it for themselves.

Buyer Readiness Stage Groups individuals according to their readiness to purchase the product.T his segmentation model is specially useful in formulating and monitoring the marketing communication strategies employed to move consumers towards purchase of a product or brand. Role of Segmentation Segmentation is the first step towards customer understanding, which allows organisations to build healthy relationships with their customers. money is made by keeping customers, and the whole idea of segmenting customers in order to build customer relationships is to change by reversal it into a mutually satisfying relationship, says Ovum analyst (David Bradshaw, 2000).

Adapting the Law to the Online Environment Essay Example for Free

Adapting the Law to the Online Environment EssayFormulating unique conception of the vane in Weaving the web Berners-Lee emphasized that the intention was to create a system with one perfect property it had to be completely decentralized. In the vision of Berners-Lee That would be the only way a late person somewhere could start to use it the Web without asking for access from allone else1. In the initial years of the Webs functioning, Berner-Lees ideal of a highly decentralized universal system has been shared by tens of millions of people around theworld who have appreciated and marveled at an invention that makes it unexpectedly easy for anyone with a computing machine to connect with anyone else with a computing machine, anywhere in the world, and to store and send information almost at leave. But the profit and the Web have also moved to the center of attention for governments, business leaders, faithfulnessyers and judges, practice of law of nature forces and m ilitary establishments, and anyone else dependent on the rule of law and permission structures in modern society. This is a contribute of the ability and tendency of Internet users to simply skirt or leap over many of the rules and intros k good awaying to maintain order in the pre- Internet world. Previously designed rules and legal structures enacted for slower-paced, relatively public palpable transactions in a world rimmed e verywhere with borders (local, provincial, national) suddenly were challenged as never onwards when the Internet made it physically conceivable to carry out transactions of almost any benevolent in a manner simultaneously immediate, anonymous, inexpensive, and interpretmingly borderless. However, the process of current democratization, over iniquitousization and simply lazier-affair went beyond foreseeable limits internet identity theft, credit card fraud, controversies with gambling and online porn reveal signifi assholet need to set the law to o nline environment, to analyze the specifics of cyber wickednesss and to create effective regulatory norms.Traditional Crime and Cyber Crime Defining BoundariesFrom the uncreated perspective, the Internet imitates and, in most cases, runs parallel to what is often happening in normal life, therefore, it is no enquire that the law had to take account of this immature parallel of hearty life. Hence the frequent appeals for cyberlaw or profits law. Simultaneously, the imitation of life by the Internet does not completely transcend lively forms of activities in their entirety. indeed while electronic forms of information are the hallmark of the Internet and tend to undermine tangible media, or even render them obsolete, prior forms of information may coexist alongside them, albeit uneasily and suffering permanent corrosion. In so furthermost as it is not possible to divine the extent to which the Net will generate parallel or independent forms of activity, the development of th e appropriate law cannot be predictable. One has to ascertain in each specific sphere of activity how far the parallels go and how big or teeny-weeny the change over the normal may have been before working out the legal response. Consequently, the deprivation of time or resources cannot be the main reasons for the non-development of Internet law, as Edwards and Waelde suggest2, although they recognize, somewhat indirectly that the Internet is unperturbed developing and so must the Internet law. Edwards and Waelde view Internet Law as being a result of (the usual) adaptation process that the law undergoes to catch up with new technological phenomena. They regard Internet Law as a necessity, contrary to the core pragmatic perception of those they refer to as flavor upon the Internet as law-free.3 And although the regulation of Internet content, transactions and activities seems to be logical and self-evident, the problems start appearing from the very definition of cyber crime.Blac ks Law Dictionary defines a crime as a neighborly harm that the law makes punishable the breach of a legal duty speaked as the subject-matter of a criminal proceeding.4 Anglo-American criminal law has for centuries possessed a set of definitions of crimes that sweep up the varied categories of social harms humans can inflict on one another, for instance homicide, rape, robbery, arson, vandalism, fraud, tiddler abuse, etc. According to Susan Brenner, criminal law does not typically differentiate offenses based upon the instrumentalities that are employ in their commission we generally do not, for drill, divide homicide into impinge on by gun, murder by poison, murder by strangulation and so on.5As Brenner points out, criminal law does treat the use of certain instrumentalities as aggravating factors, the use of which can result in an enhanced sentence upon curse this is how criminal law generally deals with exploitation a firearm or other dangerous instrumentality in the pe rpetration of a crime.6 This cost could, by chance, have been taken with regard to cyber crime we could simply define hacking as a type of trespass, analogous to real-world trespass. The crime of real-world trespass is gaining access to a physical space a building or a parcel of land without authorization. We could have pursued hacking in an analogous fashion, perhaps prosecuting it as trespass and then characterizing the use of reckoner technology as an aggravating factor.7However, that is not the approach the law has taken and is taking to the use of electronic computing machine technology to inflict social harms. What is emerging is a plane section between traditional crimes (trespass, burglary, theft, stalking, etc.) and cyber crimes. The latter encompass the use of computer technology to commit either (a) social harms that have already been identified and outlawed generically (trespass, burglary, theft, stalking, etc.) or (b) new types of social harm that do not fall i nto traditional crime categories. It is necessary to adopt cyber crime-specific laws for the first household of conduct because, as Brennans hacking-trespass example illustrates, computer technology can be utilize to commit social harms in ways that do not fit comfortably into our existing offense categories. Another Brennans example of a refutation of service attack8 simply eludes conventional criminal law it is not theft it is not extortion it is not black military post it is not vandalism or trespassing or any other crime that has so far been defined. We must, therefore, define new cyber crimes to encompass denial of service attacks and other new varieties of criminal activity. In conceptualizing the varieties of cyber crime, it is laboursaving to divide them into three categories offered by Marc Goodman crimes in which the computer is the target of the criminal activity, crimes in which the computer is a tool employ to commit the crime, and crimes in which the use of the comp uter is an incidental aspect of the commission of the crime.9 When a computer is the target of criminal activity, the perpetrator attacks an innocent users computer or computer system either by gaining unlawful access to it or by bombarding it from away(p).Cybercrimes that fall into this kin include simple hacking (gaining access to a computer system or part of a computer system without authorization) and aggravated hacking (gaining access to a computer system or part of a computer system without authorization for the purpose of committing a crime such as re-createing or fixture information in the system). The target cybercrimes also include denial of service attacks and the dissemination of viruses, worms and other types of malware. The cyber crimes in this category tend to be new crimes and therefore generally require new legislation.A computer or computer system can also be the instrument that is used to commit what is essentially a traditional crime. Cybercrimes in which a computer is the tool used to carry out criminal activity include online fraud, theft, embezzlement, stalking and harassment, forgery, obstruction of justice and the creation or dissemination of small fry pornography. These are conventional crimes, but it may be difficult to prosecute online versions of these crimes using existing material law a jurisdictions theft statute may not, for example, encompass a theft of intangible property when the theft consists of copying the property, instead of appropriating it entirely. In State v. Schwartz, Oregon State of call down held that by copying the passwords, suspect stripped them of their value.10 Jurisdictions may therefore find it necessary to amend their existing substantive criminal law to ensure that it can be used against these cyber crime variants of traditional crimes. The last course of instruction consists of cyber crimes in which the use of a computer or computer system is incidental to the commission of the crime. This kins folk includes, for example, instances in which a murderer uses a computer to plan a murder or lure the dupe to the murder scene it can also include a blackmailers using a computer to write extortion letters to his victim or a drug dealers using a computer to monitor his sales, inventory and profits. Here, the computer is merely a source of evidence and new substantive criminal legislation is generally not needed. The cases in this category can, however, require new law to settle down procedural upshots such as the processes used in gathering evidence of cyber crimes. The basic federal official cyber crime provision is 18 U.S. Code 1030 among other things, it criminalizes hacking, cracking, computer fraud and the dissemination of viruses, worms and other types of malware. The statute accomplishes this by directing its prohibitions at conduct that targets a defend computer and then defining protected computer as a computer encompassed by federal jurisdiction.11 Section 1030 defined a protected computer as either (a) a computer used exclusively by a financial institution or the federal government or used nonexclusively by a financial institution or the federal government if the conduct constituting the crime affects its use by the financial institution or federal government or (b) a computer used in interstate or foreign traffic or communication.12 The notion of basing the statutes prohibition eras on conduct directed at a protected computer was introduced when 1030 was amend in 1996 until then, it criminalized conduct that was directed at federal interest computers, i.e., computers used by the federal government or located in more than one state.13The 1996 amendment broadened 1030s reach it now encompasses conduct directed at any computer connected to the Internet. In 2001, the Patriot Act amended 1030 to make it clear that the statute can be used to prosecute criminal conduct which occurred outside the unify States, a position the Department of Justice had long taken, for instance in case unite States v. Ivanov. The Patriot Act expanded the definition of a protected computer to include computers used in interstate or foreign commerce that are located outside the United States if they are used in a manner that affects interstate or foreign commerce or communication of the United States.14Problematic Aspects Copy salutary, Child Pornography, Identity Fraud in InternetIn order to address the problems in regulation of online environment more effectively, this paper aims to focus on several most problematic aspects of the issue procure violations, child pornography and identity theft or credit card fraud. Defined by Culberg, copyright is a legal device giving the author (or holder of the copyright) the exclusive right to control the reproduction of his or her intellectual creation for a specific period of time.15 Copyright law in the United States derives from the U.S. Constitution and is therefore exclusively federal states do not have the authority to legislate in this area.16 Defenses to a charge of criminal copyright infringement are, first, that the offense cannot be prosecuted because the five year statute of limitations has run.17Other defenses are the first sale teaching and an melodic phrase that the defendant did not act willfully. The first sale doctrine lets one who purchased a secure work freely distribute the copy she bought.18 Under the doctrine, however, the purchaser can only distribute the copy she bought she cannot copy the purchased item and distribute the copies.19 Since most computer software is distributed through licensing agreements, the first sale doctrine typically does not apply when someone is charged with software piracy.20 With regard to the claim that a defendant did not act willfully, there is some ambiguity as what is required to show willfulness. Courts disagree as to whether it requires an intent to copy or intent to infringe.21The newest weapon in the federal arsenal of copyright statutes is the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, which added two sections to title 17 of the U.S. Code. Section 1201 makes it unlawful to circumvent measures used to protect copyrighted works, while 1202 makes it unlawful to tamper with copyright management information. Another new section, 17 U.S. Code 1204, creates criminal penalties for violating either sections 1201 or 1202 of the DMCA. The first criminal prosecution under the DMCA was filed in 2001 against Dmitry Sklyarov, a Russian citizen, and his employer, Elcomsoft, Ltd.22 They were charged with violating 17 U.S. Code 1201(b) (l) (A), by trafficking in technology designed to circumvent the rights of a copyright owner, and with violating 17 U.S. Code 1201(b) (l) (C), by trafficking in technology marketed for use in circumventing technology that protects the rights of a copyright owner.Another area that is a high priority in federal computer crime prosecutions is child pornography. To understand the afoot(pre dicate) state of the law outlawing child pornography, it is necessary to understand the First Amendment, which states, in part, that Congress is to make no law abridging the freedom of speech. The U.S. Supreme Court has interpreted this part of the First Amendment as prohibiting the criminalization of any but a very few limited categories of speech The First Amendment bars the government from dictating what we see or read or speak or hear. The freedom of speech has its limits it does not embrace certain categories of speech, including defamation, incitement, obscenity, and pornography produced with real children.23From the critical as well statistical perspective, child pornography appears a relatively recent addition to the list. However, the rise of computer technology raised concerns about virtual child pornography, i.e., pornography created using morphed or other artificial images of children, and in 1996 Congress adopted the Child Pornography Prevention Act, systemize as 18 U. S. Code 2251. This Act extended the prohibitions on manufacturing, possessing and distributing child pornography to encompass pornography that featured not only real children but what appeared to be a real child.24 In 2001, a coalition of free speech advocates challenged these provisions of the federal child pornography statutes they argued that because no real children are harmed in the creation of virtual child pornography, it does not fall under a category of speech that cannot constitutionally be criminalized.25When the case was before the Supreme Court, the Department of Justice argued that virtual child pornography can be criminalized because (a) pedophiles use it to seduce children into sexual acts and (b) it stimulates pedophiles into molesting children.26 The Supreme Court rejected these arguments and held that the prohibition of virtual child pornography violated the First Amendment, so the statutory provisions at issue were unconstitutional and unenforceable.

Strategic Planning and Key Performance Indicators Essay Example for Free

Strategic Planning and Key implementation Indicators EssayKey Performance Indicators (KPIs) help organisations understand how well they are performing in sexual intercourse to their strategical goals and objectives. In the broadest sense, a KPI can be defined as providing the most important process information that enables organisations or their stakeholders to understand whether the organisation is on track or non. KPIs help to reduce the Gordian nature of organisational mathematical operation to a small number of secernate indicators in order to make performance more understandable. This is the same approach we use in our daily lives. For example, when you go to your doctor he talent measure blood pressure, cholesterol levels, heart rate and your body mass index as key indicators of your health. With KPIs we are trying to do the same in our organisations. Organisations clearly understand what indicators are required for education and improvement and focus on those. Th ey then separate out the external reporting indicators if they are not relevant internally to avoid confusion and data overload. They then create the right set of goals / objectives to conduct high-performance.KPIs are there to give us information which helps us to make better informed decisions. Words, numbers, supporter ratings are all valid forms of measurement. What takes the most is that you measure the relevant things that will help you answer the questions that matter the most in your organisation. The word indicator tends to be used rather than measure and therefore a performance indicator indicates a level of performance, rather than a measurement of it. When setting KPIs a comfortably starting point is to come up with the questions you want to have an answer to before you start intention KPIs.One or two so-called Key Performance Questions (KPQs) should be identified for each strategic objective. KPQs will help you collect the information required which in turn will al low you to public figure the right performance indicators to help you answer your KPQs. KPIs can be used to set organisational salary platforms. at once organisational goals and targets are set then KPIs can be structured for certain management positions to attain a bonus if these performances are reached within a set time period. This is used to assist reaching the targets and goals of the organisation.
